ANY hopes the NBF county teams had of winning their respective southern sections in the EBF county championships perished at the hands of visiting Suffolk.
Both the Adams and Newton teams only managed one winning rink apiece as Suffolk powered home to increase their chances of qualifying for the national finals at Skegness.
The Adams team were beaten 172-151 at Parkway, their one winning rink being Neil Wright, Tom Fielding and Adam Emery, who won 35-18, while at Whittlesey Manor, the Newton team went down 177-143, with the rink of Ian Chilvers, Sam Downs and Paul Buckley winning 33-25.
Both teams round off their programmes away to Lincolnshire on Saturday (July 5).
There are two changes in the Newton team for the match at the Castle green in Spalding with Andrew Grief and Dave Roberts replacing Steven Shaw, who has moved up to the Adams team, and Melvyn Beck.
