Hannah Overton loses battle with leukaemia

Hannah Overton, the talented young Parkway bowler has lost her six-month battle with leukaemia. She died at Thorpe Hall aged 29.

The young England EBA international who won the English Bowling Federation Under 25 title twice and represented both Hunts EBA and Northants Federation was diagnosed with leukaemia in July.

The funeral will be held on Friday January 11 at the Whittlesey Christian Church in Broad Street at 12.30pm, followed by a private burial and a gathering at the Parkway club.

Hannah’s wishes were for mourners not to wear black but colourful clothing. Donation in aid of Haematology Ward 41, Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Hannah was the inspiration behind a fund-raising campaign by Bowls International – the Stamford-based bowls magazine, which launched The Hotshots of Bowls calendar for 2019, raising money for Cancer Research UK and Bloodwise.

The calendar has also received support from Taylor Bowls, Aero Bowls, Drakes Pride and Henselite.
